Temperature, batch and date per pallet

With food in cold storage, it also matters at what temperature, from which batch and until what date something is stored. We set up Boltrics WMS so that sits on the stock itself, with no list alongside.

Temperature

Every zone, its own rules

Fish, meat and frozen vegetables are major flows in Estonia and Lithuania.

  • Zones as their own location groups: frozen, chilled, conditioned and ambient are separate locations with their own range. An item in the wrong zone is a quality problem.
  • Receiving with a temperature attached: you record the temperature measured on arrival on the batch that arrives, at the moment it arrives. Recorded afterwards, it's an estimate.
  • A storage rule per item: Boltrics WMS knows which zone an item belongs in, so a wrong location shows up during putaway instead of months later during an audit.

Pallets in a freezer. Zone, batch and best-before date sit on each pallet in Boltrics WMS, so dispatch picks the shortest date itself.

  • Fast Track: live in one month

  • Fish, meat and fruit from outside the EU: often under customs supervision

Picking on best-before, tracing in minutes

For food an item number isn't enough. Two pallets of the same item can tell entirely different stories.

  • Batch as an attribute of the stock line: batch number, production date and best-before date sit on the stock itself. No second list that falls behind on the first busy day.
  • Picking on shelf life: allocation that takes the batch with the shortest remaining life first, rather than the pallet closest to the door.
  • Traceability both ways: from an incoming batch to everyone who received part of it, and from a complaint back to the batch and the supplier. In a recall that's the difference between a few minutes of work and a day in a spreadsheet.
  • Sight of what's expiring: you see which stock is approaching its date and warn your client before it's too late.

Quality and customs on the same stock

Quality control

A sample check is its own step on the floor, with an outcome recorded per check. While a batch is under investigation it cannot be picked: blocking is a status of the stock. When it's released, it's on record who did that and when.

Customs warehousing on food

Fish, meat and fruit from outside the EU often sit under customs supervision until they're sold. The same pallet then carries two statuses at once: a best-before date and a customs status. Both sit on the stock in Boltrics WMS, so you post every outbound movement once. How we set up customs.

What an audit sees

Which batch was where, at what temperature, with which checks, and where it went: you record that trail at every action and show it straight away at an audit.

Storage charges per pallet, per period, per client

Per pallet or cubic metre, per period and per client. A cold store with five clients in one hall has five rate agreements, all resting on the same stock movements.

Storage rarely bills the way handling does. It runs per pallet or per cubic metre, per week or per month, sometimes with a minimum period and sometimes at a different rate for frozen than for chilled. A pallet that arrives and leaves within the same period has to be charged the way the agreement says, and that agreement differs per client.

In a spreadsheet that costs an afternoon a month and an argument afterwards. Boltrics WMS calculates it from the receipts and issues the warehouse already records, at that client's rate, in the same system as the invoicing.

Several clients in one cold store? You keep stock, rates and invoicing separate per client, in one shared hall.

Svare has been the Boltrics Reseller for the Baltics since 2026 and implements Boltrics WMS for cold and frozen storage operators with Fast Track or Tailored Track; live in one month or tailored in three.

Built for 3PL

Frozen and chilled, each at your client's own rate.

Every service lands on the client's order. Boltrics charges it against that client's agreement, and the invoice run does the rest.

  1. Step 1

Handling and VAL on the order

Repacking, labelling or extra handling: the floor records it on the order as it happens.

  2. Step 2

    Contract per client

Boltrics matches every line to that client's contract: per pallet, per carton, per order or per period.

  3. Step 3

Storage and handling on one invoice

The invoice run puts storage charges, handling and VAL on one invoice per client, traceable to the order.

Boltrics is 100% focused on third-party logistics: not an ERP that started in finance or manufacturing, but every function built with and for logistics service providers.

What clients ask us first

Call +372 5447 0143

Can frozen, chilled and ambient sit in one warehouse?

Yes. Zones are location groups of their own with their own range, and the storage rule per item means a wrong location shows up at put-away instead of months later at an audit.

Are storage charges per pallet or per cubic metre?

Either, and differently per client, with minimum periods and a separate rate for frozen against chilled. It comes out of the stock movements themselves, in the same system as the invoicing.

How quickly can we substantiate a recall?

In minutes instead of a day in a spreadsheet. You follow a batch to everyone who received part of it, and a complaint back to the batch and the supplier.

Does customs warehousing work on food as well?

Yes. The same pallet then carries a best-before date and a customs status, both in Boltrics WMS. We always set up customs inside your WMS, never as a separate administration.

We set up your zones and your batches

In the intake we walk through your zones, your batch registration and your storage-charge agreements: which temperature range applies where, what you have to be able to prove per batch, and how each client is billed.
